Where Curiosity, Creativity and Collaboration Take Root

Alternate Roots in Hood River is committed to nurturing the imagination, creativity and wonder that is inherent in all children. Our program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to education, constructivist theory and recent neuroscience research. Our curriculum is emergent and based on our belief that children construct their own knowledge through meaningful experiences. Teachers are co-learners and collaborators with the children, keenly observing and providing guidance. Program values center around relationships, collaboration, creativity, community and connection to nature. Our unique environment is intended to be a studio where natural materials inspire playful inquiry.
